Soundcore AeroClip – The Rapid Review

Reading Time: 4 minutes

We’ve reviewed several headphones and earbuds from Soundcore since the site launched, but the AeroClips are the first Open-Ear Clip-On Earbuds we’ve been sent. Personally, all I want in a pair of earbuds is that they sound good, feel comfortable, and are easy to use. With that in mind, here’s my take on the Soundcore AeroClips.

Simple Setup

Pairing them with my Android phone was a breeze, I opened the case, and they popped up on screen, ready to pair. I was also prompted to install the Soundcore App which offers further customisation options, as well as updating the firmware if a newer version is available.

Design

The Soundcore AeroClips are available in three colour variants; Champagne Mist, Rosy Brown, and Midnight. My review unit came in the Champagne Mist colourway which I thought looked quite classy.

The case was purely white, which was fine, but it might have been nice to see the Champagne colour as well. There is a white light on the front of the case that lights up when the earbuds are inside the case. The AeroClips feature a flexible, open-ring design that sits on the outside of your ears, rather than the more traditional earbuds that sit in your ear canal.

Comfort and ease of use

First off, these earbuds are super easy to use. They clip onto your ears like little earrings, which feels a bit weird at first but is actually really comfortable once you get used to it. Unlike regular earbuds that go inside your ear and can feel like they’re squishing your ear canal, these sit outside, so there’s no pressure or discomfort, even after wearing them for hours.

I wore them during long walks and while doing chores, and I honestly forgot they were there. They come with extra little grips to make them fit better if you need them, but I didn’t. They’re also splash-proof thanks to their IPX 4 rating, so no worries if you get sweaty or caught in light rain.

I can also see how some people with specific ear shapes might feel a slight pinch after a while, but I didn’t have that issue. Also, it’s worth nothing that different sized attachable ear grips are included in the box which might help if you do feel pain or discomfort.

Surprising Sound Quality

I’m not sure why, but I didn’t expect much from something that doesn’t actually go in your ears, but I was wrong!

Music and podcasts sound clear and balanced, and there’s a nice punch to the bass. If you’re the type who likes to tweak things, there’s an app that lets you adjust the sound, but honestly, they sound good right out of the box.

Soundcore state that the AeroClips have “4 beamforming mics, wind-blocking meshes, and an advanced AI algorithm”. While I don’t fully understand this tech, I can say that phone calls were surprisingly crisp.

One of the best features of the AeroClips is that they don’t block out the world completely. You can still hear what’s going on around you. This makes them perfect for when you’re exercising, out and about for a walk, or even nodding along to your favourite tunes while doing your housework.

Battery Life

Battery life is solid with up to 8 hours of playtime. The little case they come in is neat and easy to toss in a bag or pocket, and provides up to an extra 24 hours of charging time. Thanks to fast charging, you can get about 3 hours of battery life in 10 minutes. The charging case can be charged using the included USB-C cable.

Easy Tap Controls?

The Easy Tap Controls allow you to tap the earbuds to play, pause, skip tracks, answer calls and activate voice assistants like Siri or Alexa. You can also Customise these taps via the soundcore app. I must confess that It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of tapping the tap area firmly enough for it to register my commands, but once I did, it became far more seamless.

My only real complaint is how long it took to get used to the tap controls. I had to fiddle around a bit to figure out where best to press, and how hard to press. Persevere though because once you get the hang of it, it’s smooth sailing.

In Conclusion

At around £130, they’re not the cheapest, but they feel worth it compared to pricier options like Bose, which can cost twice as much. Overall, the Soundcore AeroClip earbuds are a fantastic choice if you want something comfortable and great for staying aware of your surroundings while enjoying music or calls.
