ViewSonic VP3268-4K Rapid Review

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Our next ViewSonic monitor is the VP3268-4K UHD monitor. This monitor is aimed at professionals, especially in the graphics and photography industries, and at £939, it has the price tag to go along with it. I was excited to try this monitor out with my Xbox One X as I’d never had a 4K monitor before.

Key Features

  • Seamless Viewing Experience
  • 4K UHD Resolution
  • Loaded with Connectivity
  • Ultimate Color Accuracy
  • Professional Color Processing Capability

The first thing I noticed was the build quality of the monitor, it looks very neat and tidy. The bezel around the edges is minimal, so you get an almost edge to edge display. The curved metal stand was particularly attractive and provided a solid base for the monitor.

Talking of the stand, you are able to orientate the display to suit your needs – you can rotate, tilt and adjust the height. Furthermore, you are able to swivel the screen as well as turn it clockwise up to 90 degrees.

The ViewSonic VP3268-4K has a decent number of inputs consisting of two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort and one mini-DisplayPort. This allowed me to plug my Xbox One X and Google Stadia in at the same time. The monitor also has 4 USB ports. This was great for me as I was able to charge my controllers and headsets.

Connecting the monitor to my Xbox One X was a breeze, and I was up and running in no time. Using the Xbox Video settings, I was able to change the resolution to 4K. Having never experienced 4K before, I was pleasantly surprised to see the difference. Games like Gears of War 5 and Forza Horizon 4 looked unbelievable. I was able to notice subtle details that I’d never been able to see before—for example, damage marks on armour, and the tread of the tyres.

A feature missing from the monitor’s capability is FreeSync. This is because the ViewSonic VP3268-4K is not a gaming monitor. FreeSync is a technology that allows monitors to support variable refresh rates which help to avoid tearing and reducing stuttering. Even without this feature, I didn’t notice any noticeable lag or stuttering when playing the Xbox One X.

Where I saw the real quality of the image this display provides was on the screensaver mode of my Chromecast Ultra. I have my screensaver set as a rotation of work of artists. I found myself on many occasions, just staring at the screen and looking at the amazing details and colours.

I did find controlling the OSD a little tricky. On previous ViewSonic monitors, I have been able to quickly make my way through the menus using the rotary style button. Unfortunately, I found navigating my way around the menus a little clumsy. I did eventually get to grips with this, however.

The built-in speakers are good enough to allow you to enjoy games and music at relatively high volume levels. However, for others, audio in and out ports are available if the speakers are not loud enough.

The ViewSonic VP3268-4K is a fantastic monitor for those who work in graphic design or photography. While not advertised as a gaming monitor, the ViewSonic VP3268-4K performed well and allowed me to play games on my Xbox One X in glorious 4K.
