Introduction

Ready to unbox

In an age where the vast majority of people will have a good set of headphones or earphones, and there being so many different products on the market, it can be difficult to find the right pair that’s suitable for you and your listening habits. I find that I usually spend a great number of hours researching the various brands and top rated lists of the years best headphones/earphones, and even then they may not be suitable for you.

When I was given the chance to test out and review the Cleer Enduro ANC Wireless Headphones, I jumped at the chance, as I had admittedly never heard of the Cleer brand. So when testing the headphones, I went in with a specific brief for the review: are the Cleer Enduro ANC Headphones a good alternative for the top brands at a similar price, or do they better them?

Find out what I think below.

Design

When it comes to the design of the Cleer Enduro ANC, or just any over the ear headphones, it is very difficult to make drastic alterations whilst sacrificing ergonomics and comfort for the sake of standing out.  The design of headphones have barely changed in many years, since we saw them back on record players or the days of radio DJ’s. The general consumer has become more familiar with the over the ear headphones, with various brands like Skullcandy, Beats and Samsung being some of the market leaders and a usual brand of choice for most.

When unboxing the Cleer Enduro ANC Headphones, the first thing that I noticed is that the design is very familiar to anyone buying headphones, they are the usual design we have seen for such a long time. This isn’t to its detriment, as trying to change this can lead to disasters. With its usual rubberised foam surrounding the main speaker area, to the band that holds it all together, these aren’t going to blow you away in terms of sharp colours or unusual design.

What was the most surprising thing however was the weight of the headphones. Weighing in just shy of 0.3kg, it is incredibly noticeable when you pick them up, and especially when you use the headphones for the first time. Whilst I haven’t used a pair of Beats headphones myself, I have held a few pairs, and used various different Skullcandy headphones, these are so much heavier than those brands. It can take some time to get used to, but once you do adjust, they feel very comfortable to wear.

In terms of the general layout of the headphones, you have volume controls and a power button located on the back of the left hand side of the speaker. There is a minor gripe that I have with the layout of the headphones. Whilst it does make sense to have them located there, it can be a little bit uncomfortable trying to adjust whilst they are in use. I found that I was taking them off to adjust the volume, until I realised that volume control and the changing of sound modes could be done on the Cleer+ app.

Battery Life & Charging Time

One of the biggest factors to me when researching and purchasing wireless headphones or earphones is how much usage you can get out of your wireless headphones, especially when you tend to spend multiple hours out of the house away from a power outlet. In the past this has been quite the stumbling block with the vast majority of larger named products, such as the Airpods (earphones) which tend to get an average of 4-6 hours of charge out of them, but other wireless earphones on the market last a lot longer, whereas the Beats headphones can get around 40 hours average on a single charge.

This is where the Cleer Enduro ANC headphones completely blew me away. It is stated on the box that you can get 60 Hours using the noise cancellation feature, which is a very bold claim. However, when I got the headphones, I decided to use them straight out of the box, which had around 45% charge. I was astonished to discover that, after a full afternoon of usage during work, a phone call with my partner in the evening for around 30 mins, a long walk in the evening when I eventually put them down after roughly 9 hours of use, and they still had roughly 30% battery. And yet I still managed to get a full day’s use out of the headphones before they needed to be charged.

The charging via USB-C is incredibly quick, with roughly 2 hours of battery life for every 15 minutes spent charging, with a full charge taking roughly 4 to 6 hours. At the time writing of writing this review, the headphones are on 35% charge, after roughly around 40+ hours of use with noise cancellation enabled.

I am massively blown away by the battery life on the Cleer Enduro ANC Headphones. I have previously had to take a pair of wireless and wired earphones with me in case my previous wireless headphones and earphones had run out of battery. Now with the Cleer Enduro ANC Headphones, I will only bring the wired earphones as a backup on my days out of the house, as I know I can get a full day out of the headphones and then some.

Sound Quality

When it comes to buying a new set of headphones, the sound quality will be what most people will be asking and wondering about. When you are wanting to pick a new pair of headphones you want to ensure that you manage to get the most out of the headphones, and be able to immerse yourself in whatever you are listening to. In that instance, the Cleer Enduro ANC Headphones have you covered.

When you pick up the headphones out of the box, or whenever you turn the headphones on, you fall onto the default setting. Whilst I found this particular default setting to be serviceable, with the bass level and EQ being set to level, it was when I enabled Ambient Noise and Noise Cancellation modes where I was truly astonished by them. The modes allowed for a deeper immersion, particularly when it came to some artists and bands I was listening to.

You can notice the changes in bass and dynamic range, and they had the same level of sound quality that I had gotten in some high level wired headphones I had used previously. Add that on top of the ability to customise these settings through the Cleer+ app (to create a profile that best suits the genre of music you are listening to), and it stands head and shoulders above the rest in terms of sound quality and immersion.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Cleer Enduro ANC Headphones are, without a doubt, some of the best wireless headphones on the market at the moment. With excellent sound quality, a battery that is able to last through long sessions, as well as having an app that allows you to control the sound levels, noise cancellation and ambient noise control technologies means that you can just put your headphones on, lose yourself in your favourite songs, podcasts or YouTube videos without fear of having to switch them for another set of headphones or earphones. A truly incredible piece of technology, coming in at a lower price than a lot of the industry’s market leaders.
