Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro Review

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Power banks aren’t particularly exciting, but they’re incredibly useful when you need one. I’ve used plenty over the years, and they all do pretty much the same thing. They charge your phone when you’re away from a plug socket.

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro does exactly that, but it also has a couple of interesting features that help it stand out. Most notably, it has built-in cooling fans and a screen that tells you exactly what’s going on.

At £99.99, it’s definitely not cheap, so is it worth the money?

A Simple Design That Works

The MagGo 2 Pro is a 10,000mAh magnetic power bank that snaps onto the back of a compatible iPhone. No cables means no mess, which is always a bonus. t’s quite chunky compared to some other magnetic chargers, and you can certainly feel the extra weight when it’s attached to your phone. Still, it’s small enough to carry in a bag or pocket. It also has a built-in stand, which is handy if you want to watch something or keep your phone upright on a desk while it charges.

Those Cooling Fans Make a Difference

The most interesting thing about this power bank is its cooling system. Anyone who’s used wireless charging knows phones can get surprisingly warm, especially when they’re charging quickly. Anker has addressed this with built-in fans designed to keep temperatures down.

What I particularly like about the cooling system is removing the charger and feeling how cool the back of your phone is. It’s a noticeable change from the warmth I’d normally associate with wireless charging, and it’s easily one of the product’s biggest selling points.

The fans do make some noise, though. You may not notice it when you’re out and about, but in a quiet room, you might hear them working away. There is a Silent mode if the noise becomes annoying, though that means giving up some active cooling.

For me, the cooling system is what makes this power bank different. It’s nice to see Anker doing something a bit more interesting than simply increasing charging speeds.

The Screen Is Surprisingly Useful

Another feature I really like is the built-in screen. Most power banks I’ve used have a few small lights that roughly show how much battery remains. They do the job, but they’re not particularly helpful when you want to know exactly how much charge you’ve got left.

The MagGo 2 Pro takes it further with a proper display showing remaining battery percentage, charging speeds, and temperature information. It’s a small thing, but being able to glance at the screen and see exactly what’s happening is genuinely useful. You don’t need to guess how much battery is left or whether your phone is charging properly.

Is it essential? Probably not. But it’s certainly a feature I’d like to see on more power banks.

Charging and Battery Life

The MagGo 2 Pro has a 10,000mAh battery and supports wireless charging at up to 25W with compatible devices. That’s plenty for giving your phone a useful boost when you’re out for the day. It also has a USB-C port that delivers up to 45W, which is handy if you’d rather use a cable or need to charge another device.

Like any wireless power bank, you won’t get the full advertised battery capacity delivered to your phone, but that’s perfectly normal. For everyday use, it offers a good balance between portability and having enough power available when you need it.

Is It Worth the Money?

At £99.99, the MagGo 2 Pro is an expensive power bank, and there’s no getting around that. You can certainly find cheaper alternatives that will charge your phone perfectly well. However, they won’t necessarily offer the same cooling system, charging speeds or useful display.

I think the fans and screen are the two features that make this particular model worth considering. The cooling system is especially interesting, while the screen makes checking your charging information much easier. The only real downsides are the price, extra bulk, and fan noise.

The Rapid Wrap-up

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro is a clever little accessory that does more than simply charge your phone. The built-in cooling fans are the standout feature. There’s something particularly satisfying about removing a wireless charger and finding that the back of your phone feels cool rather than warm.

I’m also a big fan of the display. Being able to see the battery percentage, charging speeds and temperature without guessing is something I quickly imagine becoming used to. It’s not perfect. It’s quite chunky, the fans are audible, and almost £100 is a lot to spend on a power bank. However, if you regularly use wireless charging and want something with a few genuinely useful extras, the MagGo 2 Pro is well worth considering.
