Headphones are just a dime a dozen. That’s what I used to think, at least. After a decade of office work and a succession of budget headsets, I was, suffice to say, not a fan. However, in recent years, I have had the pleasure of reviewing a range of headsets and earphones for Rapid Reviews, which have helped change my view substantially. 

How did I find the Edifier W820NB Plus headphones? You’re just going to have to read this rapid review to find out. 

Good Things in Small Packages

The Edifier W820NB Plus headphones entered my life with little fanfare. Delivered by my regular postie, they were innocuous in their simple packaging and unobtrusive in their design. However, all of this was designed to lull me into complacency. 

The W820NB Plus headphones are, without a doubt, the best headset I have ever had the privilege of owning. I could end my review there; it says everything. However, that would be far too rapid, so allow me to elaborate. 

A Sleek Design that Complements the Wearer

I am a big guy, and in the past, I’ve felt oddly self-conscious about wearing headphones, especially as I walk around. They either look comically small against my head or add additional bulk, of which I already have more than enough. The Edifier W820NB Plus headphones, however, ticked all the right boxes. They fit my head without looking like I was wearing something built for a child. At the same time, they lacked any unnecessary bulk or weight. 

Comfortable and Ideal for All-Day Use

The Edifier W820NB Plus headphones are easily the most comfortable pair of headphones I have used. They fit perfectly over my ears, and even after a prolonged period of use, there was none of the ear sweat or the usual discomfort I was accustomed to after a day in the office. 

My stepdaughters also discovered the W820NB Plus headphones, and if I weren’t quick enough, they’d be whipped out of my office in no time flat. The best thing about that was they didn’t know how to change the Bluetooth connection, so they were introduced to my music, giving us a break from Justin Bieber and Harry Styles in the process. 

While I have yet to use it as such, then Edifier W820NB Plus also handles incoming phone calls, making it perfect for on the go usage. I did use it for a couple of work meetings, which was great. I just had to remember to switch to ambient sound so I didn’t shout quite as loud when talking to people.

True to Their Word Noise Cancellation

As part of my disappointing headphone journey are several stops on the poorly paved road of noise cancellation. After a succession of headsets that made the claim but lacked the substance to back it up, I was losing faith. Enter the Edifier W820NB Plus headphones, which have the best noise cancellation skills of anything I have tried before. This is even more impressive given the price point, which is certainly budget-friendly, especially when considering the number of people working from home and in need of something to help them cut off the background noise and focus. 

I put these headphones to the test, too, sitting with them on in the middle of the kids as they rapidly worked our Alexa into an early grave. Granted, I had The Hu blasting at the time, but in the past, I have always heard the house in the background. Not with the W820NB Plus Headphones.

Easy to Use

The Edifier W820NB Plus headphones were ready to use out of the box, arriving with 100% charge. Not much more than a minute after getting them out of the box, I was paired up and ready to go. Additionally, the battery life on the Edifier W820NB Plus headphones seems superb. I don’t wear them non-stop during the day, but previous pairs needed charging by the end of the day. I am on day 5 with the Edifier W820NB Plus headphones, and they are still going strong. 

Another aspect of the W820NB Plus headphones that I really liked was how to controls were actual buttons. Too many things hide controls behind invisible touchpads. Perhaps it is just my residual luddite ways, but having unobtrusive buttons just makes things easy—power, volume, mode. Job done, and everybody knows what to do. 

Final Thoughts on the Edifier W820NB Plus Headphones 

The Edifier W820NB Plus headphones are easily the best pair of headphones I have ever owned. I cannot speak highly enough of them. While they have not contributed anything to this review, the whole family seems to agree, judging by the number of times I have to hunt the things down around the house. 

When asked, my youngest stepdaughter said ‘they were fantastic, especially when the music was playing loud.’
