Security Simplified

I Recently was offered the opportunity to test out the Argus PT Ultra cameras from Reolink, but I thought to myself “who would be the perfect people to have these installed and test them on?”, Enter my in-laws!

Security is something that many people take very seriously now (and rightly so). In my opinion though, it’s the vulnerable who need them more than ever. With my existing knowledge that Reolink is easy to use and simple, I knew the “technologically impaired” in-laws would be the perfect test subjects. If they can use them, then anyone can!

The boxes that arrived were nicely presented, while keeping things very safe and secure. Opening them up revealed no damage to any of the items what-so-ever. Each item was packed individually, which while it makes sense for creating different package combos easy, does create extra waste – which I wasn’t a fan of.

Big on Features, Little on Price

The Argus PT Ultra is packed full of features, which is probably what you want when it comes to security cameras. The biggest one for me though is the ability to add non-monitored zones to the field of view. For us, it means we can block out the road and prevent the sensor and alerts going off every time a car drives past. This also helps to prevent unnecessary battery drain and also allows us to block out any neighbours properties.

Some of the Reolink features

One of the other features I love is the double warning. It means that when the camera detects an event, triggers both a spotlight and an alarm to deter any would-be intruders. This is a feature that I firmly believe should be on all security systems.

There are so many features to these cameras but if I listed them all, you’d be here for about as long as the battery life. Feel free to check them out yourself on their website.

Super Simple Setup

Setup is a big part of any security system, and often is one of the bits that people dread. Not here they don’t. To test this, I had my father-in-law do the setup (supervised I might add). The boxes came with all the fixtures and fittings you need, just bring your own tools!

Reolink Solar Panel
Reolink Solar Panel & Fittings

The 6W solar panels were easy to fit, position and connect up to the cameras (which were equally easy to fit). The cable is nice and long so you don’t need to stress about the camera being far away from the solar panel. This gives you more freedom when deciding on placement.

The setup for the system was equally simple. Ensure all your devices have power, download the Reolink app, Register an account and start scanning devices to add them using the QR code on screen. To do this, simply hold the QR code infront of the camera and VOILA, the cameras are connected!

There are plenty of configuration bits you can do with these cameras to really make them suit you perfectly. The out of the box experience with these was truly fantastic, and the image results speak for themselves. The quality is excellent, and being able to remotely control where they face means you never have to get back up that pesky ladder to fiddle with them again!

SecuritYAY or SecuritNAY?

These cameras are without a doubt an absolute securitYAY from me. They are simple to set up, use and are super reliable. Both the hardware and software are excellent quality. We absolutely put our faith in these to keep us and our property safe. The Reolink Argus PT Ultra is a must have!
