eufy E28: More Than a Robovac

If you’re a fan of Rapid Reviews UK, you’ll know that we’ve reviewed many Robot Vacuums over the years. However, the eufy E28 is the first we’ve reviewed to feature a built-in spot-stain cleaning tool. Is this a gimmick, or does it actually change the way you’re able to clean your house? Read on to find out.

Super Suction and Mopping

The eufy E28 Robot Vacuum is a solid performer. Its iPath Laser Navigation technology helps it move around your home smartly. I share my house with three others and a cat, so I was glad to see the E28 avoid obstacles like stray cables and toys. With up to 20,000 Pascals of suction, it easily picks up everything from fine dust to pet hair. My only complaint, which I’ve had with every robot vacuum I’ve tried, is that it never seems to pick up sock fluff.

Other great features of the Robot Vacuum are the auto-Detangling DuoSpiral Brushes and the CornerRover Arm for Edge Cleaning. My wife, daughters, and cat are forever leaving their hair everywhere, so the DuoSpiral brushes are a game-changer for me and save me the hassle of detangling the roller brushes a few times a week. The CornerRover Arm is something I haven’t seen on a RoboVac before, and it actually makes a difference in how it cleans corners and edges.

I was very impressed with the E28’s mopping capabilities. Thanks to what Eufy calls the HydroJet System, which cleans the mops 360 times per minute and applies 1.5KG of downward pressure to the floor, the E28 cleaned my kitchen and toilet floors remarkably well. An example of this was when my daughter dropped a whole glass of milk. With a few clicks of the Eufy App, the RoboVac made its way to the kitchen and the mess was gone in minutes. It’s a real game-changer for keeping hard floors shiny.

The standout feature!

What really makes the E28 stand out is its detachable portable deep cleaner. You don’t need to store an extra gadget in a cupboard because this portable unit is built right into the robovac’s base station. If you spill coffee on the carpet or notice a smudge on the sofa, just lift the Portable Deep Cleaner from the base and you have a handheld stain remover ready to go. It uses the same water as the RoboVac, so it’s always filled and ready. This is super convenient for times when you don’t want to use or rent a full-sized carpet cleaner. The spot cleaner’s suction is strong and it handles dried-on stains well, making it perfect for pet owners or families with kids. It really feels like you have an all-in-one cleaning hub for your whole house.

Perhaps most importantly, they can operate simultaneously, so while the robot cleans, you can still pull out the deep cleaner and tidy up your couch or carpeted stairs. This adds extra convenience as you’re not waiting around for one task to finish before tackling another.

One way Eufy could improve the Portable Deep Cleaner is to allow it to use the floor cleaner in the docking station instead of requiring a separate spray.  Especially when the official eufy Fabric Cleaner costs around £20. Although it’s worth noting that I used a different stain-removal spray, and it worked great.

After the E28 finishes cleaning, it returns to the All-in-One Station, where its mop pads are cleaned and dried and the dust bin is emptied. The base station can get quite noisy when emptying the dust bins, especially if pet mode is on. Still, having a base station like this means you spend much less time on daily chores. You don’t have to empty the robot’s small dustbin, swap mop pads, or refill the mop water tank after every use. It really gives you a set-it-and-forget-it experience.

eufy Clean App

The E28 is user-friendly, and it can be easily controlled via the Eufy Clean app. The app has many options that include:

  • Multi-floor mapping: you can create and store maps of several floors of your home.
  • Set up No-Go Zones or No-Mop Zones: these let you restrict areas (or restrict mopping) so the robot avoids them. This feature is especially helpful if you have rugs where you don’t want the mop used, or rooms with cables/pets to avoid.
  • Scheduling: You can schedule cleaning runs at times/days that suit you.
  • Select cleaning modes: e.g., vacuum only, mop+vacuum, spot-cleaning, etc.
  • App monitoring & control in real time: see the map, track the robot’s progress, send it back to the base station, or start a clean from the app.
  • Smart home integration: The E28 supports voice assistants via the Matter standard and works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Siri.

Gimmick or Great?

The eufy E28’s portable deep cleaner has changed how I clean my house. Instead of just being a floor-cleaning device, it’s a full cleaning system that handles everything from daily upkeep to quick spot-cleaning emergencies. At £999, it’s not cheap, but you’re basically getting two machines in one and you don’t need to store a separate carpet cleaner. For busy households, pet owners, or anyone who values convenience, the portable deep cleaning feature turns the E28 from just another robot vacuum into a real cleaning companion.
