Next up for Rapid Reviews we have the Edifier G1000 II Desktop Speakers. Edifier are synonymous when it comes to well priced tech first hardware. So there should be no real surprise that when it comes to the G1000 II they deliver this and more. 

Design wise, they have a cute futuristic like style. Edifier themselves coin the phrase “mech-cyber fusion meets a dazzling big eye”. Not sure if I quite see the vision they were going for but they certainly catch your eye. The design is striking and it didn’t take long for them to take pride of place in my son’s bedroom flanking his gaming PC.

It feels like every teenager has an overwhelming craving for RGB in their technology, so luckily these deliver. They have 9 different dynamic modes for lighting, and are circle shaped around the central tweeter. Almost like an eye ball. Wait… Maybe I see it after all. 

Talking tweeters, these little speakers pack a serious punch. With 2.5″ full-range drivers, they offer up to 8W of peak power. They sound really impressive at this price point!  Deep and punchy sound, rich bass and silky trebles that aren’t fatiguing in the slightest. There’s also very low distortion, and they are super enjoyable for very long listening sessions. 

There are 3 EQ settings included, with a Movie, Music and Gaming mode. It’s cool to include this as a simple user friendly way to adjust the sound to meet the media experience you are enjoying. A slight disappointment being, they all feel very similar and lack any real distinction between the three.

One thing I super appreciate is the options for connectivity. Aux and USB are there for your hard-wired connections. For the rest of us we have Bluetooth 5.4 with these, so a simpler cable solution can be there for us all! 

At this price point, the G1000 II feel like a real bargain. With an RRP of £69.99 they are currently on offer for £49.99 which feels like a steal. They do a great job of packing some really decent speaker hardware into a very premium build quality. With soft silicon buttons, anti-slip pads on the bottom and a nicely angled speaker that diverts the sound directly to your ears. Nothings really been left on the table with these speakers. I can wholeheartedly recommend these, and for those of you out there still pushing sound out directly from your monitor it could finally be the time to make the move to dedicated speakers.
