ELEA: Paradigm Shift is an interactive adventure in which you explore the life of a woman after a global pandemic occurs.

Starting out, the game’s intro text is pretty small and hard to read. The game also has a warning for epileptics and has frequent lighting changes and colour changes that I found unpleasant. Right off the bat, there are graphics related problems despite the games usually decent enough graphics.

I like that you have the option for subtitles, and there is voice acting included as well. Moving around is fairly cumbersome, however – especially when the power goes out in the beginning and you can’t see at all practically. The power outage was not enjoyable at all, and quite frankly, was extremely frustrating. It took forever to figure out what to do.

It’s just an extremely confusing and short game. I did not enjoy a single moment of the game. It’s probably the worst game I have ever experienced. This is due to its graphical oddities, confusing gameplay, and nonsensical plot. The reason this review is so short is that there honestly isn’t that much to say about it besides those things. It’s really a shame because there are elements there that could have been interesting.

When the graphics weren’t going all wonky due to design choice (the developers even say that there are purposeful glitches), they were quite decent to look at, especially the ocean scene. The ideas behind the plot were good but were executed quite poorly. I’m just disappointed that the game turned out this way because the description of it made it sound so intriguing.

I would give this game a “1” out of 5, but because of the graphics when they weren’t going crazy, as well as some of the ideas, it warrants a “1.5” out of 5. But I have to say I’d avoid the heck out of this game. It truly is not an enjoyable experience, unfortunately. Sorry to say this about Kyodai’s game, as I would have loved to give more support, but I simply can’t.
